THE KOÇ SCHOOL

Performing Arts

As the Performing Arts Department, we aim to develop students’ emotional, physical and social awareness as individuals, increase their physical capacity and enrich their creativity with an interdisciplinary approach. Our main goals are to use the voice and breath correctly, to develop the power of imagery, to gain improvisation and stage technique, to gain awareness of the use of gesture and mimicry.
We play games and plan activities that develop visual, auditory and mathematical intelligence through music. We make the learning process as enjoyable as possible and develop our students’ creative abilities. We work with orff, melodica and flute instruments that provide a working environment parallel to the development of the student in terms of music and rhythm. We aim to increase students’ interest in music and instrument playing and develop their sense of sharing through concerts, recitals and special events.

Fine Arts

Visual Arts  aims to enrich students’ talent in artistic areas though painting, ceramics, sculpture and creative workshops. Students develop their understanding and sense of art through a diverse range of applications, materials and methods.

The department equips students with information on art trends and artists and in turn encourages them to use these skills they acquire through art throughout their lives.

We apply the Ministry of Education curriculum in drama lessons.

Music

Primary School music programme aims to develop the students’ creative talents by making the learning process as entertaining as possible through visual and auditory games that foster their math and music intelligence.

We work with instruments such as Orff, melodica and flute that provide a parallel working environment to the child’s development in terms of music and rhythm.

With concerts and special activities, we aim to increase the students’ interest towards music and playing instruments and also develop their sense of sharing.

We apply the Ministry of Education curriculum in music lessons.

Dance

Education in the art of dance engages the artistic processes of creating, performing and critical analysis. These processes require students to read symbol systems, use critical thinking skills, excel in nonverbal reasoning and communication, exchange ideas, work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, and interact within a multicultural society. More comprehensively, education in the art of dance develops kinesthetic and spatial learning as well as intra- and interpersonal knowledge of self and others.
Art research shows that students who study dance are more
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and focused in their everyday lives.
  • Expressive in their communication of emotions, thoughts and feelings.
  • Creative and imaginative.
  • Able to critically analyze their own work and the work of others.
