University Counseling
Turkish University Counseling
Counseling services are provided to students aiming for Turkish universities, helping them choose universities and departments that align with their interests, abilities, and values. General preparatory work is conducted during the Prep, Grade 9, and first semester of the Grade 10, with individual counseling starting in the second semester of Grade 10.
It is crucial for parents to understand the process; therefore, workshops and individual meetings are organized for Grade 10 and 11 parents. Throughout Grade 12, "Sharing Meetings" and individual consultations are held with parents.
Students are informed about the YKS (TYT-AYT) exam structure, course selection, and examinations, and are introduced to universities and higher education programs.
Information sessions on topics like double major, minor, and lateral transfer are provided for career planning.
Students are encouraged to participate in Summer Schools, Demo Classes, Winter Schools, and Workshop Activities organized by Turkish universities. Furthermore, students receive information regarding higher education admission processes, foreign national student status, and diploma equivalency.
The High School Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department provides support to students, considering that career planning is a continuous process spanning from the Prep class through the end of the Grade 12.
Overseas University Counseling
Koç School's Overseas University Counseling Office is dedicated to guiding students through the steps of planning their higher education globally and is composed of seven experienced counselors. The team provides personalized support, resources, and expertise to help students achieve their academic goals.
How are Students Supported?
Comprehensive Information for Students and Parents
Up-to-date information on admissions, standardized testing, scholarships, financial aid, and deadlines is provided through one-on-one meetings.
Periodic workshops and seminars cover topics such as essay writing, application forms, interview preparation, and financial aid.
Personalized University Guidance
Grade 9 students are informed about international education options. Grades 10, 11, and 12 students receive one-on-one counseling to explore their academic interests, strengths, and goals. Guidance on course selection and well-being is offered in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling Office and class deans. Students are also informed about different education systems worldwide, and financial aid support is provided.
Application Support
For Seniors: Support is provided throughout the application process for English-taught programs worldwide, primarily in the USA, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, and other European countries. This includes writing letters of recommendation, offering essay feedback, and ensuring a balanced application list.
For Younger Classes: Students are informed about summer opportunities such as summer schools, courses, and internships to strengthen their applications. If there are enough participants, an East Coast USA University Tour is organized during the spring break for Grade 10 and 11 students.
Collaboration and Teamwork
The Office collaborates with the school administration, faculty, and psychological counseling to monitor students' development. Counselors attend international conferences, network with university admissions officers, and host over 100 universities on campus annually. They also connect with alumni, who are a valuable resource, and visit them regularly on their respective campuses. You can find the list of universities where students have enrolled in the last three years here.
