THE KOÇ SCHOOL

Pandemic Awareness at The Koç School

Since March 2020, the start of the global pandemic, we have been meticulously implementing all our physical and process-related plans in the school by communicating and collaborating with the Turkish Ministry of Health, the Turkish Ministry of National Education, Vehbi Koç Foundation Health Institutions, The Koç Holding and The Koç Group Crisis Support Team.

As always, our top priority during the pandemic has been protecting our students’ and coworkers’ health and safety in every aspect. The process of returning to the school, which will be carried out with the selfless efforts of our teachers and coworkers by always keeping our students in the center of our focus, is elaborately planned by our school. The pandemic practices within this scope are prepared and applied by The Koç School Emergency Management Pandemic Study Group with the consultancy of Prof. Dr. Önder Ergönül and Assoc. Prof. Süda Tekin from Infectious Diseases department of the Koç University Hospital.

Koç University Faculty of Medicine and American Hospital Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Head of Department Prof. Dr. Önder Ergönül visited our school on Sunday, October 17, 2021, and observed the Covid-19 measures taken in Primary, Middle, and High School classrooms and common areas. You can access the Koç School Covid-19 Precautions Evaluation Report (in Turkish), prepared after the observation visit, from this link.

You may take a look at the school processes we have planned by keeping our focus on our teachers, coworkers, and students in focus on the Back to The Koç School page on our website.

It is expected from our parents and students to follow the stated practices carefully in order for our education processes to continue in a healthy and safe way for all the stakeholders of our school. The most important one of these practices is to not send your child to school if your child or anyone at home is showing a symptom of a disease; to absolutely notify the grade level dean if any of the symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, diarrhea, etc. is present and to apply to a health institution. In addition to this, it is required that each of our student’s temperatures are measured by the parents before the students get on the service bus and/or leave the house and that the students with temperatures over 37.5 degrees are not sent to the school. We would like to state that each student’s and employee’s temperature will be measured with thermal cameras and contactless thermometers at the school entrances and the students or employees with temperatures higher than 37.5 will not be admitted in the school.

Before the process of returning to the school, we expect all our students and parents to participate in Back to the School during the Pandemic trainings. We also kindly request our parents to sign the Letter of Information sent by the Turkish Ministry of National Education and share it through the form at this link. Our students who are diagnosed with a disease included in the chronic diseases list on the e-Nabız system of the Ministry of Health are expected to share the document they will get regarding their situation from the e-Nabız System through the same form.

Our Guidance and Psychological Counseling departments will be in frequent contact with our students to oversee their social and emotional status. As The Koç School, we believe that we will overcome this period in a healthy way and by supporting each other.

You may contact our grade level deans for all your questions and recommendations.
