At Koç School, the Turkish Language and Literature Department embraces a holistic and innovative educational approach centered on the core competencies of both the Turkish National Curriculum (MEB) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs.
Our courses are designed to develop the highest-level skills necessary for admission to both national and international universities. Through the study of literary works, students enhance their information literacy, intellectual and humanistic sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, communication, and writing abilities. Alongside these, we integrate creative projects, interdisciplinary activities, and social-emotional learning to foster well-rounded personal development.
From Grade 11 onward, elective Turkish Language and Literature courses aligned with the MEB curriculum focus on preparation for Turkey’s university entrance examinations.
To nurture students’ artistic and linguistic expression, the department organizes an annual story-writing competition in honor of our founder, Mrs. Suna Kıraç. This competition is held in two categories: one for Koç School students and another open to participants across Istanbul. Selected stories are reviewed by a jury of distinguished Turkish literary authors and published each year as a book.
Additionally, our department supports extracurricular development through the publication of the Boyut Literature Magazine, as well as the operation of the Debate Club and Literature Club, offering students enriching opportunities beyond the classroom.
