THE KOÇ SCHOOL

Mathematics

At The Koç School, the Mathematics Department is committed to preparing students for university life by building a strong mathematical foundation and fostering essential 21st-century skills. Our courses are designed not only to develop mathematical proficiency but also to support students as creative, analytical, and collaborative thinkers.

The curriculum integrates a variety of teaching strategies to address different learning styles, ensuring that every student is engaged and supported. Collaborative problem-solving, real-world applications, and open-ended tasks are central to our approach, encouraging students to see mathematics as both relevant and inspiring.

Our program encourages students to:

  • Construct their own understanding through discovery and experimentation,
  • Focus on process-based rather than solely procedure-based problem-solving,
  • Achieve conceptual understanding across algebraic, numerical, graphical, and symbolic dimensions,
  • Think flexibly and creatively in response to unfamiliar challenges,
  • Enhance their analytical and mathematical abilities in a meaningful and lasting way.

From the prep year onward, students are introduced to English mathematical terminology, laying the groundwork for future academic studies. In Grades 9 and 10, students follow the Turkish National Curriculum (MEB). From Grade 11 onward, they can either continue with the MEB track or pursue one of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Mathematics pathways: Analysis and Approaches (SL/HL) or Applications and Interpretation (SL/HL).

The Koç School Mathematics Department empowers students not only to excel academically, but also to develop as independent thinkers ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
